Mahathir wrote a letter to Israel asking for money?
It’s true some of the thing circulating in the blogosphere cannot be taken as the whole truth. We should take effort to verify this info. Here for example a letter purportedly from our former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad asking Ehud Barak for money to fund UMNO during the 1999 General Elections, in return for “unlimited” US military bases in the country?

It’s CANNOT be Mahathir screamed Susan Loones. I agree with her - it is unlikely to be Mahathir. To make it rather believable - the letter is stamped confidential, purportedly from the Prime Minister’s Department, dated 16 August 1999, and addressed to Ehud Barak, is circulating in the internet.
Anyway the letter is already out in public domain - so it really up to Tun Mahathir to refute its content!

I doubt that this letter is from him.
First of all, if it’s from the prime minister, the address would be from The Prime Minister OFFICE and not The Prime Minister DEPT which are two different entity.
The English seems a bit funny.
An outgoing letter, the CONFIDENTIAL would have been printed along (private and confidential) rather than being rubber stamp.
cc To Ambassador, Malaysia Embassy USA.
Now that just seems like it’s taking the piss really…utterly unprofessional. The person faking it might as well write cc President of United States or cc President of Russia!
